“LETS - Learning English Through Science”

This is a professional development program for teachers in grades 4 and 5 and is centered around the concept of the richness of the language of science, which enables students to more quickly learn English. The program offers a one-week intensive summer institute for each grade level with academic year follow-up meetings.

Teachers gain expertise in effective teaching practices using the learning cycle with curriculum that supports well-explored science standards content and extensive EL standards in listening, speaking, reading and writing to access academic language.
